Enjoy the Planning!! Part 4

Yay!! So now you are beginning to work with your event planner (EP). This can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Keep the excitement and trust your EP is going to make things as painless as possible.

Communication: Make sure you and the EP know the best way to reach one another. Do you prefer text messages, emails, phone calls or a mixture of these? Make sure phone numbers are saved and email addresses are added as "safe sender" in your mail client (e.g., Outlook, Gmail). You will also need to consider if there are times that are off limits for either of you. This consider is important if you have set commitments like you work night shift and sleep for 8 hours after you get off work. Your EP might have some of these times if they work a full-time job or have certain days they are handling another client's event.

Be on time: I cannot stress this enough. Please be on time for meetings with the EP and any vendors. You want all your scheduled time to hear information, be able to ask questions, and understand next steps. Your event is important, and you do not want to rush cake testing, touring a venue, or choosing flower arrangements. Things do happen so if you are running late, let your EP know as soon as possible along with your estimated time of arrival.

Be at peace/Have fun: Seriously, I mean it. As I previously mentioned, your EP is there to alleviate the stress and make your process smooth regardless of your event type. For a jubilant celebrant, your EP can make the process enjoyable through their demeanor, personality, and professionalism. You can add to that by savoring each moment of the process. Don't look at things as a chore or just something to be checked off the to-do list. Find happiness and delight in every item as you imagine how each helping you to bring your final vision to life.

I hope you enjoyed my simple "Hiring an Event Planner Series." Feel free to hit me up to address any questions you have or topics you would like to see addressed in a future blog. Until next week...
