Budget, Smudget!! Part 2

Updated: Sep 8, 2021

Congratulations!! You have decided to hire an event planner. So now what? Well, before you start reaching out to planners in your area, you need to come up with your budget for the event. This will be one of the subjects in your initial conversations with planners. (More on that topic in a future blog.) There are some expectations of you, as the client, when developing your budget.

  • Be realistic in setting the budget. You must know the maximum amount of money you want to spend on the event.

  • Be realistic in what you may get for your budget. A great event planner can make any event great, regardless of the budget, however, you will have to balance your wants with what the budget affords or be prepared to increase the budget.

  • Whatever your maximum budget, the full amount will not be spent on the event. Some of that budget will be used to pay the event planner. So if your budget is $20,000 and your event planner charges $2,000, you will have $18,000 to spend on the event.

Below are typical items/services that are typically needed for an event. These are just a few that should be considered when determining how much you want to spend.

  • Event attire Venue rental fees Caterer

  • Caterer Baker Bartender

  • Decorations Entertainment Printing

  • Photographer Videographer ` Officiant fees

  • Barber/Beautician Makeup Artists Gifts

  • Transportation rental Special equipment rental

Until next week...
